 ILLUSTRATING BOOK COVER

BRIEF:

To create a series of poetry book covers that express the themes of the poets yet also work as a set.

 

CONCEPT:

Each cover experiments with ink. The Ezra Pound cover draws on the visuals of ink blot tests to depict the depth of the poems. The Emily Dickinson cover shows a figure with an ink spill on the head which connotes that darker tones of poems. Kate Tempests cover shows the patterns created by ink bubbles to show the natural circles that are created using air and ink. Finally, the Sylvia Plath cover shows the pills drawn using ink that drip down the page, this demonstrates her mental state when writing her collection.
